Encaustic Work

Encaustic is the process of painting with Wax. Pigmented wax is melted on a hot plate and then applied to various surfaces. Below includes my beginning exploration into this process.

Hadley

A plaque I made for my niece for Christmas. I soldered the wood and then embellished with acrylic paints and walnut ink.

Rusted Decaying Cow

For my final project in experiencing the natural world I created a decaying cow on rusted paper cloth. The cow itself is painted with acrylics and ink on cloth which is then attached to rusted, burned paper towels, held together with tape. I then mounted this piece on to a barn door for its completeness.

Skull on Skull

Size: 16”x20”

An acrylic painting on canvas of a skull on top of another skull. The skull on top is from observation of the under part of the cattle head. This piece was a piece I had done previously with just one skull. I then went back to it and reworked the piece by adding another skull, creating more dimension with the black background, and also adding more dimension to the red flowers.
